Welcome

First of all, if you’re reading this, THANK YOU. Who knew putting a blog together could be so much hard work?

My name is Haley Thomas and I am an Oklahoma gal currently slumming it in Jacksonville, North Carolina with my husband, son, and two crazy huskies. Let me start by telling you how I ended up here — 1,039 miles from home. I met my sweet hubby, Christopher, at a high school football game when I was in the 8th grade. Long story short, we became instant best friends (yes, I friend-zoned him at first) and we started dating a little less than two years later. I knew he would be my husband one day, I just didn’t know that it would be at the young age of 19. The year after we graduated high school, he decided to join the Marine Corps, which led to him being stationed in Camp Lejuene, NC. We both knew that we wanted to take this journey together, so he proposed after boot camp and we “eloped” in December 2017, shortly before we made the big move. I still haven’t had my DREAM wedding with the white dress; but, it’s still in the works! Fast-forward to today:

Since moving to North Carolina we have introduced to our family a two-year-old husky, Blue, adopted our 6-year-old husky mix, Ruby, and made the cutest, sweetest, most perfect little human. Together we have had many ups and downs, evacuated a hurricane, conquered long-distance marriage, laughed a lot, cried a little, and just learned so much about what it means to be a family and make sacrifices for one another. Becoming a mom changed me in so many ways and I feel like I have so much to share & many things that I am passionate about, so why not share it on a platform? With this blog I hope to reach others like me who are imperfectly perfect and well… a mess.

If I can share my testimonies and ideas and just reach ONE person, then I will feel successful. I am also a future educator, and I would love to use this platform to talk about teaching little ones and swap ideas with other elementary educators. I will be attending Oklahoma State University in the Spring of 2021 to finally complete my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. I have attended four, yes FOUR, colleges since graduating high school because ya know….. #milspouselife. From Tulsa Community College, to Coastal Carolina Community College, to University of North Carolina- Wilmington, to Oklahoma State University — it has been difficult but so worth it.

When I’m not busy leaving laundry and dishes piled up, doing schoolwork and taking care of my kids (husband included), I like to think that I’m artsy and look at crafts on Pinterest that I will probably never make, go to the beach, read, and if we’re being honest, scroll through social media a thousand times. Oh, and watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. It might be a problem. I’m a very family-oriented person who loves spending quality time with family & friends and even though I’m a mama now… I still need my mama. Every one needs their mama every now and then right?

Okay, now I’m almost done talking I promise. Lastly, I would like to say thank you to my good friend Madeline who inspired me to start this blog. You can check out her site at madelinebrooke.com, where she shares many useful resources for moms on topics such as baby-led weaning, integrating montessori with an infant, and breastfeeding. Thanks for reading a little bit about my life! I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you all regularly. I’m sure my husband will appreciate me sharing my many thoughts with someone other than him. 😉

XOXO,

Haley
